On Friday, April 4, former Marvin Ridge High School standout Kyle Dobos’ current college team, the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, won 9-2 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the Hofstra Pride.
The game took place at University Field. This was their second matchup against the Pride this season.
The Seahawks’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at University Field against Hofstra Pride.
U.S. Congressman Rep. Mark Harris used social media on May 14, 2026 to address issues related to school safety, cashless bail legislation, and public safety meetings with law enforcement officials in North Carolina.
The House has passed Congressman Mark Harris’s Cashless Bail Reporting Act requiring federal reporting on jurisdictions using cashless bail for serious offenses. Harris says this measure aims at greater transparency following concerns over recent violent crimes.
The City of Monroe has launched its new mass notification system called Monroe Alerts. Residents can now receive emergency updates as well as community news via text message, phone call or email.
