Rep. Dan Bishop, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing North Carolina’s 8th district, has recently shared his views on various political matters through social media posts. Bishop, who succeeded Robert Pittenger in 2019, continues to engage with the public on legislative and political issues.
On June 2, 2025, Rep. Dan Bishop expressed his opinion about a fellow politician by stating “No bigger creep than Sheldon Whitehouse.” This tweet reflects Bishop’s critical stance towards Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.
In another post dated June 4, 2025, Rep. Bishop commented on an error made by an AI tool regarding legislative processes: “This is why you shouldn’t let @Grok write your term papers. It (them/they?) doesn’t know the difference between reconciliation — which can pass the Senate on 51 rather than 60 votes — and appropriations bills — which cannot.” He further explained that reconciliation bills are subject to specific limitations.
Later that day, he addressed fiscal policy matters concerning the President’s recent proposals: “By the way, the President’s rescission package just sent to Congress, which would immediately cut $9.4 billion of current-year nondefense discretionary spending, and his proposal to cut $163 billion of that spending for FY2026, should be the object of Congress’ attention.” Here he highlights significant budgetary measures proposed by the administration.
Dan Bishop has been active in politics since serving on the Mecklenburg County Commission from 2005 to 2008 and holding positions in both houses of North Carolina’s state legislature before joining Congress.
