In another post on July 15, 2025, Harris commented on federal spending reductions, saying: “Some in Washington will say these cuts are too small to matter, but that’s the same mindset that created our now-$37 trillion debt. This package will not solve our spending crisis overnight, but…It’s proof that Congress can act responsibly when it wants to.”

Later that day, Harris announced plans for new legislation alongside Senator Marsha Blackburn. He stated: “BREAKING: @MarshaBlackburn and I will be introducing legislation TOMORROW to revoke the congressional charter of the nation’s largest teachers union — the NEA!”

The National Education Association (NEA) is recognized as the largest professional interest group representing public school teachers and other support personnel in the United States.
