Rep. Mark Harris, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina, used his social media platform on February 2, 2026, to express support for immigration enforcement and advocate for the passage of the SAVE Act.

In a post made at 19:11 UTC, Harris wrote: “This is Jocelyn Nungaray. She was r*ped and strangled to death by two illegal aliens. She was only 12 years old. Jocelyn is why I support ICE.”

Shortly after, at 19:12 UTC, he urged legislative action with another post stating: “PASS THE SAVE ACT. NO EXCUSES.”

Later that evening at 19:25 UTC, Harris commented on Senate proceedings regarding election legislation: “The Senate passing the SAVE Act shouldn’t be this difficult. American elections should be for American citizens ONLY.”

The SAVE Act refers to proposed federal legislation intended to require proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections—a measure debated amid concerns about noncitizen voting in the United States.

Jocelyn Nungaray’s case has been cited by some lawmakers as an example in debates over immigration policy and border security enforcement.

ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is a federal agency responsible for enforcing laws related to border control, customs, trade, and immigration within the United States.
