Rep. Mark Harris, a U.S. Congressman representing North Carolina’s 8th district, made several statements on social media regarding recent violence in Australia and public safety issues in Charlotte.

On December 15, 2025, Harris addressed an incident overseas, writing: “At least 15 people, including children, were tragically murdered in Australia while celebrating Hanukkah over the weekend. This is what happens when Jewish people are vilified. Antisemitism is wrong and should be completely eradicated. Full stop.” He tagged NEWSMAX in his post.

Later that same day, Harris announced a television appearance focused on local crime: “I’m joining @FoxBusiness at 6:20pm to discuss the latest on Charlotte crime. Be sure to tune in!”

On December 16, 2025, Harris criticized Charlotte’s City Council for its allocation of funds: “Charlotte’s City Council just rubberstamped $3.4 MILLION in transit marketing—INSTEAD OF PUBLIC SAFETY! After two Light Rail stabbings and a crime wave in the city, when is @CLTMayor going to start protecting victims instead of keeping up her fake ‘safety’ show?” He again referenced Fox Business in this post.

Antisemitism remains a concern globally and has been condemned by various organizations as a threat to both individuals and communities. Public safety funding decisions by municipal governments have frequently sparked debate across U.S. cities as leaders balance investments between law enforcement and other services.
