Rep. Mark Harris, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina, recently posted several messages on social media regarding crime and public safety funding in Charlotte.
On December 8, 2025, Harris encouraged followers to learn more about his legislative efforts by referencing a news outlet: “Read more about my bill in @FoxNews: https://t.co/rlibEgdxXw”.
The following day, he promoted an upcoming television appearance focused on crime issues in Charlotte: “Tune into @NEWSMAX at 10am ET for the latest on cracking down on Charlotte crime! https://t.co/n4SY5StMbQ” (December 9, 2025).
Later that same day, Harris criticized the Charlotte City Council’s recent budget decision with a pointed statement: “Last night, Charlotte’s City Council voted to spend $3 MILLION—but NOT A DIME is going to public safety! Instead of actually addressing crime, their entire budget is going to ADVERTISING. Democrats would rather tell you you’re safe than actually keep you safe. @NEWSMAX https://t.co/5aHTxHHQZA” (December 9, 2025).
Harris has positioned himself as an advocate for increased public safety funding and has publicly questioned the priorities of local government spending in Charlotte. His comments come amid ongoing debates over how municipalities allocate resources to address rising concerns about crime rates.
