Rep. Mark Harris, U.S. Congressman representing North Carolina’s 8th district, shared several posts on July 29, 2025, addressing education policy and law enforcement.
In a tweet posted at 19:36 UTC, Harris criticized the National Education Association (NEA) for its recent resolutions. He stated: “Instead of focusing on providing a quality education for their students, the NEA passes resolutions that call for:
-‘climate-smart’ schools
-‘gender-affirming care’
-‘equitable access’ to bathrooms
It’s clear: they shouldn’t be anywhere near the classroom.”
Earlier in the day, at 14:14 UTC, Harris shared another post simply reading ” https://t.co/RNlHrN6kcD”.
Later that evening at 20:40 UTC, Harris expressed appreciation for law enforcement following an engagement with local sheriffs. He wrote: “Truly grateful for the opportunity to speak with the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association yesterday!
I’m proud to stand alongside our dedicated law enforcement officers, who pour their hearts into keeping our communities safe and strong every day.”
The NEA is the largest labor union in the United States and regularly passes resolutions on educational policies and social issues during its annual meetings. Debates over topics such as climate change initiatives in schools and gender-affirming care have been ongoing points of contention among policymakers and educators nationwide.
