Rep. Mark Harris, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina, has posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing ongoing legislative debates in Congress.

On February 2, 2026, Harris wrote, “The House did its job. The Senate needs to do theirs. No excuses.”

The following day, he commented on partisan divisions over border security and immigration policy, stating: “Republicans aren’t here to play Chuck Schumer’s pity-politics circus. We will not let Democrats gut Homeland Security—period. Once again, Democrats are showing us exactly where their loyalties lie: protecting illegal aliens over American citizens. @NEWSMAX” This message was posted on February 3, 2026.

Later that same day, Harris referenced former President Donald Trump’s priorities and criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer: “President Trump is focused on law and order, securing the border, and getting the economy back on track. While Chuck Schumer has only one goal: slow it down, block it up, and stop it cold. @NEWSMAX”

These comments come amid heightened tensions between the Republican-controlled House and the Democratic-led Senate regarding border security legislation and funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Disagreements have centered around proposed reforms to asylum procedures and increased resources for border enforcement.

Chuck Schumer serves as Senate Majority Leader while Republicans hold a majority in the House of Representatives as of early 2026. Debates over immigration policy have been a recurring point of contention between both chambers in recent years.
