Rep. Mark Harris, a U.S. Congressman from North Carolina, recently addressed several topics on his official Twitter account, including federal recognition for the Lumbee Tribe and criticisms of the Affordable Care Act.

On December 9, 2025, Harris promoted an upcoming appearance by stating, “Coming up soon on @RealAmVoice — be sure to tune in!”

The following day, he highlighted legislative progress regarding the Lumbee Tribe: “For decades, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina has fought for the full federal recognition they rightfully deserve. Now we’re closer than ever. With the Lumbee Fairness Act in this year’s NDAA, it’s time to deliver. Let’s get this done!” The Lumbee Tribe has long sought full federal recognition to access benefits and resources available to other federally recognized tribes.

Later on December 10, Harris criticized the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare), referencing a recent report: “Obamacare’s broken promise: Insurance giants ripping off taxpayers while premium costs skyrocket. A bombshell report revealed Obamacare approved 96% of fake applications—YOUR tax dollars going down the drain! Americans can’t afford this mess any longer.” The congressman cited findings that suggest vulnerabilities in application approval processes under the ACA.

The push for Lumbee recognition has been ongoing for decades. Inclusion of measures like the Lumbee Fairness Act in major legislation such as the National Defense Authorization Act represents a significant step toward resolving this issue.
