Town of Stallings issued the following announcement on Sept. 23.
CHARLOTTE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ORGANIZATION OPENS PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR THE 2023-2032
Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Development IN NCDOT PRIORITIZATION 6.0
The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) is in the process of developing future transportation projects for Iredell, Mecklenburg and Union counties, and is requesting resident input on potential transportation priorities. CRTPO works closely with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to develop the 2023-2032 Transportation Improvement Program in a process known as Prioritization 6.0. A public comment period will be held from September 19, 2019 until October 19, 2019 on the projects of all transportation modes that were proposed for submission for NCDOT Prioritization 6.0.
The State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), is updated every two years and identifies the construction funding and schedule for state transportation projects over a 10-year period. The Strategic Transportation Investments law has created a quantitative, data-driven approach to develop the STIP and its local counterpart, the TIP. As a result, the most important opportunities for public involvement in identifying future transportation projects to be included in Prioritization 6.0 are when CRTPO selects projects for consideration, which is occurring throughout the fall of 2019 and when CRTPO allocates its local input points to the final priority of projects, which will occur in 2021.
The proposed highway, bicycle and pedestrian, transit, rail, and aviation projects and maps are posted on the CRTPO website, www.crtpo.org, under the Transportation Improvement Program tab. This public comment period will close on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Comments should be directed to Judy Dellert-O’Keef using the following methods:

Mail: CRTPO
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center

Residents can also comment on the proposed project lists in person during the CRTPO Board meetings on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 and Wednesday, November 20, 2019. The meeting will be held in Room 267 of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center beginning at 6 p.m. Those who wish to speak must sign up at least five minutes prior to the start of the meeting. The CRTPO Board will approve the submission of projects for all modes to NCDOT for scoring in Prioritization 6.0 during the Wednesday, November 20, 2019 meeting.
The CRTPO is the metropolitan planning organization for the greater Charlotte urbanized area, including Iredell, Mecklenburg and Union counties. More information about the CRTPO is available on its website at www.crtpo.org.
