The North Carolina Republican Party is calling out the winner of the Democratic primary, Cal Cunningham, for reportedly hiding in his "windowless basement" after agreeing to five general election debates with incumbent Thom Tillis (R-NC).
The Republican Party pointed out that Cunningham was first all for the debates, even allegedly replying “bring it on,” the Republican Part said in a a July 23 Facebook statement. Still, Cunningham is said to have had a change of heart and is now allegedly hiding. Tillis also noted that he agreed to a WLOS debate but Cunningham refused.
“It's disappointing but not surprising that Cal Cunningham would rather schmooze with his liberal out-of-state donors instead of defending his failed record and agenda in front of the people of Western North Carolina,” said North Carolina Republican Party spokesman Tim Wigginton said in the statement. "Mountain area voters won't forget the disrespect that Cunningham is showing them, and they will reject his tax-hiking, job killing agenda in November."
