Property Tax Bills Mailing This Week

Tax

Union County recently issued the following announcement.

Union County's Tax Office will mail annual property tax bills to all property owners this week. The tax bills are mailed directly to the party responsible for payment–either property owners or mortgage companies that are escrowing property taxes. Informational notices will be sent to the approximately 45,000 property owners who escrow their property taxes.

Tax Rate. The tax rate for the fiscal year 2021-2022 is $0.5880 per $100 assessed valuation. View more facts about the upcoming budget year by clicking here.

Due Date. Property taxes are due September 1, 2021. To avoid interest charges, property tax payments must be paid on or before January 5, 2022.

Late Payments. Payments postmarked on or after January 6, 2022 will be charged a two-percent interest penalty for the month of January and an additional three-fourths percent every month thereafter, until the bill is paid in full including interest and fees. All unpaid taxes are subject to be advertised in the local newspaper and an additional advertising fee will be added to each bill.

Payment Assistance. If you need assistance paying your annual tax bill, there are short-term payment plan options available. Payment plans must be arranged with the Tax Office no later than December 15, 2021. The first payment is required at the time of the arrangement. For more information on payment plans, contact our customer service department at 704.283.3848.

Consolidated Bills. Residents of Wingate, Wesley Chapel, Fairview, Mineral Springs, Marshville, Hemby Bridge, Stallings and Marvin will receive one tax bill that includes both county and municipal taxes. The partnership with these municipalities provides their residents with one point of contact for all property tax questions and concerns.
