The City of Monroe Engineering Department, in conjunction with North Carolina Department of Transportation, will be sweeping US Highway 74 (Roosevelt Boulevard) during the weeks of April 18 and April 25. During street-sweeping operations, temporary lane closures will occur between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Drivers are reminded to take precautions around street-sweeping equipment. The City recommends motorists leave at least three car lengths between their vehicle and a street- sweeping operation. Keeping a safe distance can also prevent damage to vehicles from debris that might come from the street sweeper during the cleaning process. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area during sweeping of US 74 and to take alternate routes if possible.
