The minutes are in and the Final Four have been selected! Watch the live announcement.

Four UCPS elementary schools are now advancing to the Final Four round of this year’s Books and Brackets reading challenge. The challenge is modeled after the March Madness basketball competition, and all 30 of the school district’s elementary schools compete in the five-week reading challenge.

Students in the Books and Brackets reading challenge have been enthusiastically turning those pages to build good reading habits while having fun. They’ve shown an impressive dedication to their reading goals. From classic children's literature to more challenging texts, these young readers have been exploring a wide range of genres and styles. Their enthusiasm for reading is infectious and their commitment to the competition is truly inspiring. With each book they read, the students are developing their literacy skills and expanding their imaginations, setting the foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth.

Congratulations to the following schools who advanced to the Final Four: Indian Trail, Fairview, Unionville and Poplin. Each of these schools has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to reading and a love for books that has propelled them to the top of the leaderboard.

The winning school will be announced during a celebration at Wingate University March 31.
