WASHINGTON - Congressman Dan Bishop (NC-08) proudly voted for H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023.
“The chaos at our border is an intentional policy decision from President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas. What we’re witnessing is horrific - sex trafficking, fentanyl smuggling, inhumane conditions, and thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants streaming across our wide-open border. The Biden administration’s policies prevent our brave border patrol agents from enforcing the law and have created a massive flood of illegal immigrants into the US. It’s disgraceful,” said Rep. Bishop.
“This border catastrophe is an unmitigated crisis of Biden, Mayorkas, and the Democrat Party’s own making. We are offering a solution to stop the madness and secure the border once and for all. For the sake of our nation and the American people, the Senate must pass this bill, and the President must sign it into law.”
This bill, among other provisions:
- Completes border wall construction.
- Overhauls the asylum process to prevent rampant fraud and abuse.
- Ends “catch and release” permanently.
- Curtails incentives for cartels to smuggle children across the border.
- Gives our border patrol agents the tools necessary to secure the border.
- Mandates E-Verify to protect American jobs
