On Tuesday, April 1, former Union Academy standout Carter DeVore’s current college team, the Wingate Bulldogs, won 14-3 in their NCAA Division II baseball game against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders.
The game took place at Ron Christopher Stadium. This was their first matchup against the Crusaders this season.
The Bulldogs’ next game is scheduled for Friday, April 4 at 3 p.m. at Ron Christopher Stadium against Southern Wesleyan Warriors.

The House has passed Congressman Mark Harris’s Cashless Bail Reporting Act requiring federal reporting on jurisdictions using cashless bail for serious offenses. Harris says this measure aims at greater transparency following concerns over recent violent crimes.
The City of Monroe has launched its new mass notification system called Monroe Alerts. Residents can now receive emergency updates as well as community news via text message, phone call or email.
