Hurricane Ian Ready

City of Monroe Officials have been monitoring the path of Hurricane Ian. As of now, it looks like Monroe and Union County may see some heavy rain and strong winds later this week into the weekend. Strong winds could lead to power outages.

Police and Fire will be monitoring roadways as heavy rain can cause flooding in low points on the roadways. Drivers should not attempt to drive through water-covered roadways and everyone should stay away from rising creeks. In the event of a power outage affecting its customers, Monroe Energy Services will work to restore power as quickly as possible.

Now would be a good time to ensure that personal flashlights have batteries.

As a reminder, in an emergency situation call 911 immediately
