FOIA Request Sent to Anson County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Anson County Election Department in North Carolina on October 30, 2024. The request, made by Union News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought records pertaining to pre-election voting machine test reports.

The specific details requested under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., include the test date of each voting machine, the manufacturer of the machines, their model numbers, and their status—whether they passed or failed in the tests. Union News has asked for these records preferably in PDF format.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

This FOIA request underscores our commitment to keeping the public informed about key aspects of local government operations and ensuring transparency in electoral processes.
