FOIA Request to Richmond County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Union News have submitted a request for records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. Our request is specifically targeted towards obtaining the pre-election test reports of voting machines used in the recent elections.

The requested information includes the date of testing, machine manufacture details, machine model numbers, and their status whether they passed or failed during the tests. We have asked for these records to be provided in a PDF format for easy accessibility and readability.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will help us ensure that all election procedures were carried out with due diligence and integrity.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. This step further emphasizes our commitment towards providing unbiased and accurate news without any financial constraints affecting our reporting.

We await a response from the Richmond County Election Department regarding our request and will continue to keep our readers updated on this matter.
