Recent Scam Calls Received by Union County Residents
Over the past several days, the UCSO has been contacted by numerous residents voicing concerns after receiving fraudulent telephone calls. Residents report receiving telephone calls from unknown individuals who are identifying themselves as UCSO deputies and are then demanding money from the called party. The scammers are then threatening to issue arrest warrants on the called party if payment is not received.
The UCSO would like to make it very clear that these calls are fraudulent and that our agency would not make calls asking for money from our local residents. If you receive a call asking for personal information or financial compensation, please verify the source before providing any of your personal information or hard-earned money. If you have questions about a call you received or would like to verify that you are/are not in fact wanted by the police, please contact the UCSO non-emergency line at (704)283-3789.
While this may seem like common knowledge to some of our residents, please check in with your elderly friends and friendly members to make sure that they do not fall victim to these fraudulent calls. As always, UCSO deputies will be out in our local neighborhoods keeping our community safe and are only a phone call away.
